ਦੇਵਗੰਧਾਰੀ

ਲੋਕਨ ਕੀ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਉਪਮਾ ਤੇ ਬੈਸੰਤਰਿ ਜਾਰਿ ॥

lokan kee chaturaiee upamaa te baisa(n)tar jaar ||

I have burnt in the fire the clever devices and praises of the world.

ਕੋਈ ਭਲਾ ਕਹਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਬੁਰਾ ਕਹਉ ਹਮ ਤਨੁ ਦੀਓ ਹੈ ਢਾਰਿ ॥੧॥

koiee bhalaa kahau bhaavai buraa kahau ham tan dheeo hai ddaar ||1||

Some speak good of me, and some speak ill of me, but I have surrendered my body to You. ||1||

ਜੋ ਆਵਤ ਸਰਣਿ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ॥

jo aavat saran Thaakur prabh tumaree tis raakhahu kirapaa dhaar ||

Whoever comes to Your Sanctuary, O God, Lord and Master, You save by Your Merciful Grace.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਲਾਜ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥੨॥੪॥

jan naanak saran tumaaree har jeeau raakhahu laaj muraar ||2||4||

Servant Nanak has entered Your Sanctuary, Dear Lord; O Lord, please, protect his honor! ||2||4||

Dayv-Gandhaaree:

ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਹਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥

har gun gaavai hau tis balihaaree ||

I am a sacrifice to one who sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord.

ਦੇਖਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਸਾਧ ਗੁਰ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

dhekh dhekh jeevaa saadh gur dharasan jis hiradhai naam muraaree ||1|| rahaau ||

I live by continuously beholding the Blessed Vision of the Holy Guru's Darshan; within His Mind is the Name of the Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਤੁਮ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਾਵਨ ਪੁਰਖ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਮ ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਮਿਲਹ ਜੂਠਾਰੀ ॥

tum pavitr paavan purakh prabh suaamee ham kiau kar mileh jooThaaree ||

You are pure and immaculate, O God, Almighty Lord and Master; how can I, the impure one, meet You?

ਹਮਰੈ ਜੀਇ ਹੋਰੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਰੁ ਹੋਤ ਹੈ ਹਮ ਕਰਮਹੀਣ ਕੂੜਿਆਰੀ ॥੧॥

hamarai jeei hor mukh hor hot hai ham karamaheen kooRiaaree ||1||

I have one thing in my mind, and another thing on my lips; I am such a poor, unfortunate liar! ||1||

ਹਮਰੀ ਮੁਦ੍ਰ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਰਿਦ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਦੁਸਟ ਦੁਸਟਾਰੀ ॥

hamaree mudhr naam har suaamee ridh a(n)tar dhusaT dhusaTaaree ||

I appear to chant the Lord's Name, but within my heart, I am the most wicked of the wicked.

ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਮੑਾਰੀ ॥੨॥੫॥

jiau bhaavai tiau raakhahu suaamee jan naanak saran tum(h)aaree ||2||5||

As it pleases You, save me, O Lord and Master; servant Nanak seeks Your Sanctuary. ||2||5||

Dayv-Gandhaaree:

ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਹੈ ਨਕਟੀ ॥

har ke naam binaa su(n)dhar hai nakaTee ||

Without the Name of the Lord, the beautiful are just like the noseless ones.

ਜਿਉ ਬੇਸੁਆ ਕੇ ਘਰਿ ਪੂਤੁ ਜਮਤੁ ਹੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਿਓ ਹੈ ਧ੍ਰਕਟੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

jiau besuaa ke ghar poot jamat hai tis naam pario hai dhrakaTee ||1|| rahaau ||

Like the son, born into the house of a prostitute, his name is cursed. ||1||Pause||

ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੇ ਬਿਗੜ ਰੂਪ ਬੇਰਕਟੀ ॥

jin kai hiradhai naeh har suaamee te bigaR roop berakaTee ||

Those who do not have the Name of their Lord and Master within their hearts, are the most wretched, deformed lepers.

ਜਿਉ ਨਿਗੁਰਾ ਬਹੁ ਬਾਤਾ ਜਾਣੈ ਓਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਹੈ ਭ੍ਰਸਟੀ ॥੧॥

jiau niguraa bahu baataa jaanai oh har dharageh hai bhrasaTee ||1||

Like the person who has no Guru, they may know many things, but they are cursed in the Court of the Lord. ||1||

ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੋਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤਿਨਾ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਪਗ ਚਕਟੀ ॥

jin kau dhiaal hoaa meraa suaamee tinaa saadh janaa pag chakaTee ||

Those, unto whom my Lord Master becomes Merciful, long for the feet of the Holy.

ਨਾਨਕ ਪਤਿਤ ਪਵਿਤ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਛੈ ਛੁਕਟੀ ॥੨॥੬॥ ਛਕਾ ੧

naanak patit pavit mil sa(n)gat gur satigur paachhai chhukaTee ||2||6|| chhakaa 1

O Nanak, the sinners become pure, joining the Company of the Holy; following the Guru, the True Guru, they are emancipated. ||2||6|| First Set of Six||

Dayv-Gandhaaree, Fifth Mehla, Second House:

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ikOankaar satigur prasaadh ||

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਮਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਈਐ ॥

maiee gur charanee chit laieeaai ||

O mother, I focus my consciousness on the Guru's feet.

ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹੋਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਕਮਲੁ ਪਰਗਾਸੇ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

prabh hoi kirapaal kamal paragaase sadhaa sadhaa har dhiaaieeaai ||1|| rahaau ||

As God shows His Mercy, the lotus of my heart blossoms, and forever and ever, I meditate on the Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੁ ਸਮਾਈਐ ॥

a(n)tar eko baahar eko sabh meh ek samaieeaai ||

The One Lord is within, and the One Lord is outside; the One Lord is contained in all.

ਘਟਿ ਅਵਘਟਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਸਭ ਠਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਦਿਖਾਈਐ ॥੧॥

ghaT avaghaT raviaa sabh Thaiee har pooran braham dhikhaieeaai ||1||

Within the heart, beyond the heart, and in all places, God, the Perfect One, is seen to be permeating. ||1||

ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਮੁਨਿ ਕੇਤੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਕਤਹੂ ਪਾਈਐ ॥

ausatat kareh sevak mun kete teraa a(n)t na katahoo paieeaai ||

So many of Your servants and silent sages sing Your Praises, but no one has found Your limits.

ਸੁਖਦਾਤੇ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈਐ ॥੨॥੧॥

sukhadhaate dhukh bha(n)jan suaamee jan naanak sadh bal jaieeaai ||2||1||

O Giver of peace, Destroyer of pain, Lord and Master - servant Nanak is forever a sacrifice to You. ||2||1||

ਮਾਈ ਹੋਨਹਾਰ ਸੋ ਹੋਈਐ ॥

maiee honahaar so hoieeaai ||

O mother, whatever is to be, shall be.

ਰਾਚਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਰਚਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪਨੀ ਕਹਾ ਲਾਭੁ ਕਹਾ ਖੋਈਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

raach rahio rachanaa prabh apanee kahaa laabh kahaa khoieeaai ||1|| rahaau ||

God pervades His pervading creation; one gains, while another loses. ||1||Pause||

ਕਹ ਫੂਲਹਿ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਿਖੈ ਸੋਗ ਕਬ ਹਸਨੋ ਕਬ ਰੋਈਐ ॥

keh fooleh aana(n)dh bikhai sog kab hasano kab roieeaai ||

Sometimes he blossoms in bliss, while at other times, he suffers in mourning. Sometimes he laughs, and sometimes he weeps.

ਕਬਹੂ ਮੈਲੁ ਭਰੇ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੀ ਕਬ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਧੋਈਐ ॥੧॥

kabahoo mail bhare abhimaanee kab saadhoo sa(n)g dhoieeaai ||1||

Sometimes he is filled with the filth of ego, while at other times, he washes it off in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||1||

ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮੇਟੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਕੀਆ ਦੂਸਰ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਲੋਈਐ ॥

koi na meTai prabh kaa keeaa dhoosar naahee aloieeaai ||

No one can erase the actions of God; I cannot see any other like Him.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਸੁਖਿ ਸੋਈਐ ॥੨॥੨॥

kahu naanak tis gur balihaaree jeh prasaadh sukh soieeaai ||2||2||

Says Nanak, I am a sacrifice to the Guru; by His Grace, I sleep in peace. ||2||2||
